BEST EVER CREAM CHEESE BARS (Again)

Updated: Feb 10, 2023

We lived in Overland Park, Kansas when a co-worker, Garth Gunter, shared this recipe with me. It is DELICIOUS!

At that time, we were season ticket holders for the Kansas City Chiefs games. Before each home game we met with a bunch of friends in the stadium parking lot for tailgate parties. It was expected that I WOULD bring these Cream Cheese Bars for part of my contribution of food.

Those tailgate gatherings were so much fun and the games were too. Several years after moving here to South Dakota my neighbors (Dan & Theresa Remp) and I hosted a tailgate street party before a football game between the Chiefs and the Broncos (The Remps are die-hard Bronco fans!!). Dan moved his big screen TV out to my garage and we set up picnic tables in the street. I honestly do not recall which team won that night but it was a perfect fall evening and we had a great time. Last year when the Chiefs finally won a Super Bowl some of my family were gathered around my TV watching the big game here with me! Oh my gosh! I was super excited when Patrick Mahomes pulled the team through to the big win!

Anyway, whenever I prepare this Cream Cheese Bar recipe, I'm reminded of the great memories at Arrowhead Stadium.

Ingredients:

1 egg, separated

2 8-oz pkg. cream cheese

1 tsp vanilla

1 ½ c sugar

2 8-oz pkg. crescent rolls

½ c shopped nuts

1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

- Mix egg yolk, cream cheese, vanilla and 1 cup sugar.

- Stretch 1 pkg. crescent rolls to fit a 9” X 13” pan.

- Spread cheese mixture over rolls

- Cover with the other pkg. of crescent rolls stretched to fit

- Beat egg white until fluffy, brush on rolls

- Combine ½ c sugar and cinnamon and nuts. Sprinkle on top

Bake at 350º for 30 minutes

Cut into squares. Makes 24 2-inch squares

Top: Ready for a cold pre-game tailgate!

Totally easy delicious pasta for dinner

This recipe on Facebook caught my interest. It had a demo video attached to it! I quickly wrote the recipe on a piece of scrap paper - and picked up the ingredients next time I went grocery shopping.
