BAGEL - or is it BREAD?
Recently a recipe in a video on the Internet caught my eye; so much that I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and jotted it all down - then I went to the kitchen and tried the recipe. I know that bagels are first boiled then baked but this recipe has no boiling involved and it looks more like a round loaf of bread than a bagel. It is always fun to try something new and different. My report is that it tastes just like a bagel and it was easy and fun to make. Here is the recipe in case you want to try. It makes two loaves.
Mix together, then cover and let rise until double in size:
· 4 c flour
· 2 tsp salt
· 2 tsp sugar
· 2 tsp yeast
· 2 c lukewarm water
Prepare two 1-quart oven-safe bowls by covering the insides each with 1 tsp butter; then, spread 2 TBSP Everything Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend evenly in each bowl.
When dough is double in size, divide into two; put each into a bowl and let rise until double again.
Bake in 425⁰ oven for 15 minutes; then 375⁰oven for 17 or 20 more minutes
Turn upside down on cooling rack.
Spread with cream cheese - Yummmmm
